Life at Honeywell

It's been 2 years 1 month and 3 days i have been associated with Honeywell Int which is located in Gurgaon, Haryana. My joining with HWL was a bit interesting at the same time was a bit confusing. First i gave the screening interview and then was told that i will be informed later. Then i joined another company and was in the training.Got a call from the HR department and was asked to join HWL. I was quite surprised and at the same time was happy. Negotiated on remuneration however both parties disagreed but somehow it got solved. Finished up with the remaining round of interviews. Finally got the news that i have been selected.

Finally joined company on 14th Aug 2008. HWL is located in the remote area of Khandsa village which is in outskirts of Gurgaon, Haryana. It's completely a industrial sector with most amazing roads which could even lead you to Heaven. After reaching the company I was asked to fulfill all the official formalities like producing my academic and professional documents and also all kinds of bank formalities.

Then I was selected for Security Access process to join in. Initially there were just 8 people when I joined the team. The process was into two separate product lines. My team had 5 people including me. Now this team has grown to 16 people including our managers.

Now I been trained on a new product line which is Security Video and this is currently my workstation. Security Video is all about CCTV and surveillance and monitoring system.I have been with Access Support line for nearly 2 years and supported on multiple access control panels and systems.

Security Access has been always the most happening process in GCSC, Honeywell for its technical aspects as well as for the vibrant team. We are always into some kind of activity everytime be it parties, outings or potlucks or any "PERFORMANCE". From the beginning it's been rightly called as self-driven team and performance oriented team.

Team parties has always been a great recreation that my team been practicing religiously. Friday Fun is one of them in which we do some kind of fun activity on floor. We have been to Hrishikesh for rafting and camping.

Fun on floor has always been the most exciting part of our process. You will find somebody doing something or other be it clicking pictures, gossip and any group discussion.

Well that's all i can say about my team which rocks everytime.

Philately

Penny Black

Insight to History:  Widely known as collection of stamps of different countries. Actually it is the study of stamps and postal history. The word "philately" is the English version of the French word "philatélie", coined by Georges Herpin in 1864.The Penny Black was the world’s first adhesive postage stamp ever used in a public postal system. It was issued by United Kingdom in the year 1840 and hence used for official purpose.

My Interest: Really do not remember when i grew this interest. But as far as i remember i was fascinated by a postage stamp which my uncle got me from Sierra Leone. From that day onwards i really started collecting different varieties, types, shapes of stamps. At first it really didn’t matter whether i was collecting a foreign or a national stamp. I was busy collecting stamps as much as i could.

As years passed i really got to know the importance of a stamp and why we have this kind of system. Then i took my own time to re-arrange the stamps i had collected all these years. I put them in an album which are specially designed for keeping stamps, in a synchronized fashion ,wherein we can seggregate into different categories.

Stamps can be issued for different purpose i.e. Public, Official or Commercial use. Official stamps normally consists of historical monuments, eminent personalities like politicians, freedom fighters, authors, etc. Commercial stamps can be of anything like flowers, places, animals, plants, events, etc.
